4 Boys, 1 Girl on All-Tournament MSHSL Class A Soccer Team

By BHS Sports & Activities

After placing second in the Class A state tournament with a 1-0 double-overtime loss to No. 1 Blake on Friday, a trio of Bemidji High School boys soccer midfielders, as well as attacker Silas Hess, were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Ben Hess, Aspen Galdamez and Pau Mesegue didn’t show up much on the scoresheets during the Jacks’ three games in the tournament, but they did enough to prevent opposing chances and produce opportunities of their own to turn the heads of tournament officials.
The Lumberjacks finished the season with a record of 18-3-1 and a program-best second place finish at the state tournament.

For the BHS girls soccer team, junior Emma Dean represented the Jacks with All-Tournament team honors.
The Bemidji girls wrapped up the season with a 13-5-3 record, matching last year’s state tournament result with a first-round loss to the Zephyrs, who went on to win the title both years.

The Bemidji High School girls soccer team had its season come to an end Wednesday, as the Lumberjacks dropped their Class A state quarterfinal game, 6-0, to defending champion No. 1 Mahtomedi at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud.

After their second straight state tournament appearance, the Lumberjacks’ season ends with a record of 13-5-3. Next year’s squad will look to improve on the mark while trying to fill the spots of seniors Toward, Elizabeth Corradi, Alyse Stone, Kinley Prestegard, Miciah Renn and Allison Beard.
