Girls Varsity Soccer Preseason Scrimmages Trip 2018
After placing second in the Class A state tournament with a 1-0 double-overtime loss to No. 1 Blake on Friday, a trio of Bemidji High School boys soccer midfielders, as well as attacker Silas Hess, were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Ben Hess, Aspen Galdamez and Pau Mesegue didn’t show up much on the scoresheets during the Jacks’ three games in the tournament, but they did enough to prevent opposing chances and produce opportunities of their own to turn the heads of tournament officials.
The Lumberjacks finished the season with a record of 18-3-1 and a program-best second place finish at the state tournament.
For the BHS girls soccer team, junior Emma Dean represented the Jacks with All-Tournament team honors.
The Bemidji girls wrapped up the season with a 13-5-3 record, matching last year’s state tournament result with a first-round loss to the Zephyrs, who went on to win the title both years.
Bemidji High School senior Harper Toward (left) and junior Silas Hess earned All-State first team honors at the Minnesota High School Soccer Coaches Association banquet on Sunday, Oct. 21, after being selected as the top players in the Lakes to Prairie Conference by the coaches in the conference. Silas Hess earned second team honors last year, while this is Toward’s first honor.
