In the Section 8AA girls tennis tournament on Saturday at Sta Fit in Sartell, the three Bemidji High School athletes fell short of advancing out of the first round, ending the team’s season.
As the North’s No. 2 seed, freshman singles player Savannah Haugen fell to South No. 3 Kate Inderieden, a junior from St. Cloud Tech, while the doubles pairing of North No. 2 Taylor Offerdahl and Lexi Leitner fell to South No. 3 Maggie Kipka and Kate Corrigan, of Foley.
Bemidji High School freshman Savannah Haugen and the duo of senior Taylor Offerdahl and sophomore Lexi Leitner each went 1-1 in day two of the Section 8AA North subsection girls tennis tournament Saturday at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D.
With second place, Haugen and the doubles pair earn the second seed out of the North subsection and will face the third seed out of the South in the Section 8AA tournament next Saturday in Sartell.

The Bemidji High School girls tennis team won its first round match, 4-3, over Moorhead at the Section 8AA tournament Thursday at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D., but then the Lumberjacks ran into top-seeded Brainerd and fell 6-1, ending their team season.
Bemidji (13-7) went into the tournament as the No. 4 seed and was set up to face the No. 5 Spuds on Thursday morning for its first match.
Bemidji is back on the Choice Health and Fitness courts starting at 9 a.m. today for the Section 8A North individual tournament.
