Bemidji High School senior Jordan Mann finished off her track and field career with her first-ever state finals run on Saturday. Mann ran a 12.67 in the 100-meter dash during the Class AA state meet at Hamline University in St. Paul, which placed her eighth of nine in the championship field. Mann was one of five Lumberjack participants at the state meet and the only one to advance to Saturday’s finals.
The Lumberjack boys and girls teams finished the Section 8AA Championship meet in Willmar, and half a dozen athletes earned a spot in the Class AA state meet.
The boys team will have five representatives at state. Ryan Bieberdorf qualified in the 200-meter dash with a second-place time of 22.61, and Jacob Kelly met the state qualifying standard with his fourth-place time of 14.82 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Bieberdorf was also a member of the 4x100 team -- as were Gemini Ellis, Matthew Arel and Will Falldorf -- that qualified for state with a 44.12 time for second.
Jordan Mann will be making another trip to state for the girls team, as well. The senior sprinter clinched her third appearance in the 100-meter dash with her first-place time of 12.18 on Saturday.
As a team, the Bemidji boys placed sixth out of 17 teams with 52 points. Moorhead won the team title with 132 points. The BHS girls were ninth with 26 points, while Alexandria placed first with 155 points.
The Class AA state meet is set for June 7-8 at Hamline University in St. Paul.
