A disappointing first-set loss was manageable for the Bemidji High School volleyball team, but Moorhead denied BHS with three straight blocks during a pivotal stretch in the second set. That turned the tide and buried the Lumberjacks 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-18) on Tuesday night at the BHS Gymnasium.
Bemidji will aim to correct course with a 7 p.m. matchup at Alexandria on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The Bemidji High School volleyball team ultimately didn’t have an answer for Willmar on Thursday night, falling in a 3-0 sweep by scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-21.
Facing off against the undefeated Cardinals (4-0), the Lumberjacks (1-2) held their own for stretches of the match despite the tall lineup fielded by the home side.
The Lumberjacks will be back at home for their next match against Moorhead at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
In action for the first time in nearly a year, the Bemidji High School volleyball team dropped its season opener 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 14-25, 25-23) on the road Monday night at St. Cloud Apollo.
After coming up short in their first two sets, the Lumberjacks (0-1) took set three by 11 points -- the largest margin of any set on the night.
BHS will finally have the opportunity to play on its home court Thursday, Oct. 15, when St. Cloud Tech rolls into town for a 7 p.m. contest. A limited number of fans will be allowed to attend the match.
