Noah Johnson ran out a 6-0 win in the third set to take the match and secure the Bemidji High School boys tennis team a 4-3 home victory over Brainerd on Tuesday. His teammates mobbed him in celebration afterward.
The Jacks are next set to face Alexandria in an away meet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 13. The Cardinals handed Bemidji one of its two losses earlier this season at BHS.
The Bemidji High School boys tennis team saw its nine-match losing streak ended at the hands of Alexandria on Thursday. The Lumberjacks battled to a narrow 4-3 defeat.
The loss drops Bemidji to 10-3 on the season and puts Alexandria in the driver’s seat for the top seed in the Section 8AA playoffs.
The Lumberjacks will look to bounce back when they host a triangular on Monday, May 17. They’ll meet St. Cloud Apollo/Sauk Rapids-Rice at 1 p.m. and Grand Rapids at 6 p.m.
The Bemidji High School boys tennis team improved to 7-2 on the season with a sweep of Willmar and Thief River Falls in a home triangular Tuesday.
The Lumberjacks blanked Willmar 7-0 before taking a 4-3 win over Thief River Falls.
BHS nearly went the entire match against the Cardinals without losing a game. The team earned straight-set wins of 6-0, 6-0 in six of seven matches.
Bemidji is next scheduled to travel south for away matches at Sartell-St. Stephen and St. Cloud Tech on Thursday, May 6.
